Torres plays down speculation

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres says he is staying at Anfield no matter how much money Manchester United throw his way.

The Spanish international has been linked with an audacious move by Alex Ferguson to sign him once Christiano Ronaldo’s proposed £80million transfer to Real Madrid goes through.

But Torres says he is not the sort of player to go chasing bigger money.

He confirmed, “I’m very happy with my contract and wouldn’t leave just to earn a little more somewhere else where I wouldn’t be that happy.

“To want any more would be greedy and that is not me. As long as Liverpool want me, I will stay.”

Torres will be in action for Spain tomorrow evening when they play South Africa in the final group game of the FIFA Confederations Cup.
