Rumour Mill: Crouch set for Liverpool return

Peter Crouch could well be set for a move back to Anfield this summer, according to reports today.

The Portsmouth striker was linked with a move to Liverpool earlier in the summer and comments from Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp suggest he has lost a bidding war for him.

This morning’s Telegraph reports:

Benitez is believed to have been watching Crouch since he left Liverpool and has asked to be kept abreast of developments.

Crouch was sold last summer for £11million shortly before Reds boss Rafa Benitez signed Robbie Keane, leaving behind fond memories with the fans.

He scored 11 goals in 35 appearances for Portsmouth last season and is one of the current England squad’s most prolific goalscorers with 16 goals in 34 games for his country.

Last week, however, Crouch rejected a move to Sunderland insisting he would be happier with life in the south of England. But could Merseyside tempt the 6ft 7inch striker back?
