New £18million Liverpool signing Alberto Aquilani says he can’t wait to recover from his latest ankle injury so that he can start helping the Reds’ push for the Premier League title.
The Italian midfielder, signed from Roma following Xabi Alonso’s departure to Real Madrid, is sidelined until October.
But Aquilani says he hopes this will be the end of his succession of injury problems so that he can get on with his new job at Anfield.
“I have signed for five years, I want to be here as long as possible, though I would prefer to be out of action for a brief period now rather than being out of action for a longer time later on.
“This is a long championship, there are lots of games.
“All I can say is I will give it my best, I will give it my all, and I hope to start as soon as possible.”
