Everton help out Reds with massive result

Liverpool’s Champions League hopes were dealt a boost by the most unlikely of sources last night as Everton beat Manchester City at Eastlands.

The game was one of Man City‘s two games in hand over the Reds, but goals from Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta subjected the blow to Roberto Mancini’s men in a fiery contest in which both managers were sent to the stands.

Liverpool are still 2 points behind City in the league table, having played a game less. Tottenham still hold onto fourth spot, four points ahead of the Reds, also with a game in hand.

With 7 games of the season to go for Rafa Benitez’s men, the pressure is really on, although the Reds end the season with a favourable fixture run-in.

The Reds next face Sunderland at home in league, this Sunday at 4pm.
