Rafa urges Torres to let football do the talking

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has urged striker Fernando Torres to calm down and let his football do the talking.

Torres has appeared increasingly frustrated in recent games, earning yellow cards for dissent and kicking up the penalty spot at Old Trafford during Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester Utd.

Indeed, the Liverpool number 9 has picked up 5 yellow cards in his last 7 appearances.

And now Benitez has issued caution to the Spanish international, telling him to cool down.

“Fernando knows he has to focus a little bit more,” said the Reds boss.

“We were talking about this at half-time on Sunday, so that is something that will be better for him and better for the team. He can score more goals by concentrating on football.

“All strikers, especially top-class strikers, are marked a little bit more closely than others and that is normal.”
