Pepe Reina’s hands that is.
The Liverpool keeper’s new contract has been officially confirmed today, a massive six year extension, meaning Liverpool’s goalkeeping position is in very safe hands for years to come.
The Spanish stopper arrived from Villareal in 2005, for a mere £6m and won the golden glove for most clean sheets in the Premier League in his first three seasons in English football. He just missed out on the accolade last season but is in the running to win it again this, despite our poor season.
Pepe has played every league for the last two seasons and is on course to do so again this campaign.
Here’s what Pepe told the official website about signing the new deal…
“I’m delighted to sign a new contract. It’s probably the best news of my life that I’ll be here for the next six years. Me and my family are really happy here.
“To play for Liverpool is very special. I’ve been here for five years and now I will be here for six more and it’s very exciting.
“It’s very important that my family love it here as well, as family life is just as important as my career.
“My wife told me from the beginning she was more than happy here. My kids enjoy it and they have picked up the scouse accent already. I am really proud of that.
“In the years ahead they will speak much more scouse too.”
Here’s what we have to look forward to the next time we win some silverware with Pepe…
