Liverpool will complete a £1.7million move for highly-rated Charlton Athletic striker Jonjo Shelvey in the next few days.
Shelvey, 18, underwent a medical on Merseyside today and is expected to put pen to paper on a deal this week.
The striker has played 48 times for the Addicks since making his debut as a 16 year old two years ago.
When Shelvey signed his first contract on his 17th bithday with Charlton, boss Paul Parkinson said, “He’s an excellent prospect – I haven’t seen a better 17-year-old in the country.”
