Everyone Loves Dirk

Liverpool’s Dirk Kuyt is still reveling in the fact that on Sunday night, he will play in the World Cup Final in South Africa.

Kuyt helped Holland reach the final with a 3-2 victory over Uruguay in Cape Town on Tuesday night, and will face the winner of tonight’s semi-final between Spain and Germany.

Since the semi-final win over the South Americans, in which Kuyt created the third Dutch goal for Arjen Robben to head home, Kuyt says he’s been inundated with support.

He said, “It’s very difficult to say how our performance has gone down with the Dutch public and around the world, but if I was to judge it by the emails and texts received, I would say the whole world is supporting us.”

When asked about who he hopes Holland will be facing in the final, Kuyt replied, “Of course I know enough about Spain from the Spanish guys at Liverpool, but Germany is of course a special game for me.

“It doesn’t really matter to me.”

Spain vs Germany gets underway at 7.30pm tonight and is live on BBC One in the UK.
