Liverpool fans open to Cisse return

Liverpool fans have welcomed the news that former Reds striker Djibril Cisse would like to return to the club.

As we reported last night on This Is Anfield, Cisse has said that he still has a special place in his heart for the club as he looks for a way back into English football.

Cisse looks to “my club” Liverpool

Cisse spent last season at Greek side Panathinaikos, scoring an impressive 23 goals in 28 appearances.

“At Liverpool I didn’t have my chance,” he said. “At Sunderland I had a good time but I fancy coming back to Liverpool – that would be nice.

“I like Arsenal because my friends are there, Manchester is nice, but my club is Liverpool.”

Cisse was signed by Gerard Houllier, but only played under Rafa Benitez, suffering injury problems in his two year stay at Anfield, but winning the Champions League in 2005.

Fans have responded to the prospect of re-signing Cisse, who could be available on a free transfer, positively.

Dillon: “He never got a proper chance and a lot of the times Rafa played him wide, rather than his correct postion being central.”

Tommy B: “I always liked Cisse. Fast and direct but his injury never gave him a real chance. Definately more of a threat than Ngog so if he was cheap enough why not?”

Fred: “Cisse was unperdictable but a lot of defences were alarmed by his direct approach. Never given a real chance here.”

Nikhil Michael: “He wants to play here. Who are we to deny a world level player to play for us? We want people who want to be here. I hope you come back Cisse, and remember, YNWA.”
