Liverpool’s Head of Sport Science and Medicine, Peter Brukner, has given an update on Fernando Torres’ injury.
The Reds striker pulled up with an adductor injury in the closing moments of Spain’s World Cup Final victory over Holland on Sunday night sparking fears of a lengthly lay-off.
But Liverpool’s medical team remain upbeat, ahead of a visit to Torres in Madrid to assess the damage.
Brukner told LFC TV, “It certainly looked like it might have been bad but it seems not too bad.
“He certainly walked up the steps to receive his medal without too many problems, so we are optimistic it is not going to be too bad.
“But really we can’t say too much until we have had him properly assessed.”
