Liverpool’s £6million move for Danish international Christian Poulsen looks set to be complete within the next 48 hours.
Poulsen could make his debut for the Reds as early as this Sunday’s Premier League opening game against Arsenal at Anfield.
And today, Poulsen’s international teammate Daniel Agger welcomed Roy Hodgson’s move for the Juventus midfielder.
“Christian would be a perfect addition to most of the big clubs in Europe, so he will certainly fit in here,” said Agger.
“He is a top player and will make us stronger. We need to have big signings so we can compete and he is one of those players.
“Christian will improve the team. But we need more improvements if we want to be at the top of the league this season.”

Meanwhile the Reds have been linked with a move for another midfielder – Fulham‘s Zoltan Gera.
Hodgson, who worked with Gera at Craven Cottage before leaving for Liverpool, is reported to be hoping to bring the 31-year-old to Anfield with him.
Werder Bremen are also said to be interested in the Hungarian international, who recently scored a 12-minute hat-trick in a friendly against the Germans.
But speaking to MTI, Gera said, “This is the first time I’ve heard about the interest of these teams for me.”
And Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Carlton Cole, should they fail to meet Tottenham Hotspur’s asking price for Peter Crouch.
Cole has been linked with a move to Anfield several times before, but West Ham would be reluctant to sell for anything less than £12million.
