Sky Sports are this evening reporting that Liverpool have turned down a bid from Birmingham City for the loan of Ryan Babel in the second half of this season.
Babel has again failed to nail down a regular first team place this season under new manager Roy Hodgson, and has long had an admirer in Birmingham boss Alex McLeish.
But Hodgson is have thought to have rejected Birmingham’s approach for the 24-year-old Holland international as he looks to build the depth of his squad.
The January transfer window opens this weekend with all eyes on Liverpool as they reach into the transfer market for the first time under new owners NESV.
