Taste of Spain as Reds go top

Liverpool Reserves went top of the league tonight thanks to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Blackburn at Prenton Park.

It was two Spaniards who got the goals for the Reserves on the night, as they overtake Sunderland in the Barclay’s Reserves League.

Gerardo Bruna fed in Suso who finished expertly from close range after good build up work from Jay Spearing and Thomas Ince.

Blackburn had a few chances to get back in the game, but were ultimately halted by the Reds defence.

With just seven minutes of the game remaining, Pacheco fired a good left-foot shot past Rovers keeper Jamie Kean.

Ince and Spearing in particular impressed for the Reds’ second string.

The Reserves now face Blackpool away this Thursday, 3rd of March.

The next home game is next Tuesday, 8th March against West Bromich Albion.

Liverpool Reserves: Gulacsi, Flanagan, Irwin (Cooper 65), Wisdom, Mendy, Spearing (Thomas 70), Bruna, Pacheco, Saric, Suso, Ince. Subs not used: Roberts, Stephens, Sokolik.
