Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Friedel could be set to sign for Tottenham Hotspur, rejecting a move back to Liverpool.

It was thought Friedel would join Kenny Dalglish’s team this summer as Pepe Reina’s understudy, but the lure of being first choice at White Hart Lane seems have swayed the 40-year-old American.

Friedel joined Liverpool from Columbus Crew in 1997, making 31 appearances before leaving to Blackburn Rovers in 2000.

Friedel made his 226th conseuctive Premier League appearance against the Reds in Villa’s 1-0 victory on Sunday.

To mark the end of the 30-year wait for a league title, the ‘Liverpool Mishmash’ poster is available to order exclusively on This Is Anfield — the history of the Reds in one image!
