Henry in Champions League aim warning

Liverpool Football Club principal owner John Henry says not qualifying for the Champions League next season would be a “major disappointment”.

Henry’s warning to manager Kenny Dalglish about ambitions and targets comes just two weeks before the start of the new Premier League campaign.

Liverpool have invested in their squad this summer, bringing in midfielders Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing and Charlie Adam as well as goalkeeper Alexander Doni.

“Our main goal is to qualify for the Champions League,” he said. “If we don’t it would be a major disappointment.

“It’s too early for us to start talking about winning the league. In my opinion Manchester United are the ones to beat.

“They have a good squad, and look really good.”

Henry was in Oslo with the Reds for last night’s 3-3 draw against Valerenga.
