Uruguayan Sebastien Coates is on the verge of signing for Liverpool from Nacional for a fee around £7m.
The 6ft 6in centre-back, 20, impressed during the Copa America this summer and was recommended to manager Kenny Dalglish by forward Luis Suarez.
Coates’ current club, Nacional, have confirmed the deal and the player is currently on a plane from Montevideo and will head to Melwood to complete a medical and finalise the move to Liverpool on Friday.
Coates will become Kenny Dalglish’s sixth signing of the summer and replace the recently departed Sotiroios Kyrgiakos in the Reds’ squad.
