Loan Watch: Shelvey on song for Seasiders

Midfielder Jonjo Shelvey this week joined Championship side Blackpool on loan for the rest of 2011 and made his debut against Bristol City on Saturday.

The 19 year old inspired the Seasiders to a 5-0 win, powering in a free-kick from 35 yards in the second half.

Ian Holloway said “The lad Shelvey has come in and done well. It’s been a long time coming, getting him to this club, but we’ve finally done it, and he’s repaid me.

“I wanted him when Charlie Adam went, but we just couldn’t do it at that point, but now I have got him, and I am pleased about that. I’ve not seen many better debuts than that.

Charlie Adam congratulated his former side and Reds’ team-mate on Twitter, saying “Well done to Blackpool FC for a great result today and Jonjo Shelvey getting his first goal.”

Shelvey joined Liverpool from Charlton for £1.7m in 2010.
