Hendo praises Carroll’s Stoke Performance

Henderson LFCAs Kenny Dalglish and the media exhausted the superlatives yesterday to describe Luis Suarez after he propelled us into the last eight of the Carling Cup, Jordan Henderson quickly praised Suarez’s forward partner Andy Carroll’s performance at the Brittania claiming the striker is quickly beginning to replicate his training performances in matches….

“I thought Andy was brilliant against Stoke. He worked really hard, closed defenders down, won a lot of headers and had a few chances himself. ,” said Henderson. “He contributed a lot. He’s been doing that in training and we all know what we can do. I don’t think there’s a problem with Andy’s belief. He’s a good player and he shows that in training every day.”

“We are not bothered who we get, and we’ll wait for the draw and see what it gives us. We just want to go as far as we can in the competition. We now have an important game at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday and that is our next concern getting the three points.”

Stephen Sama – Loan to Preston?

League One side Preston North End are reportedly interested in taking young Liverpool center back Stephen Sama on loan. Preston boss Phil Brown has been keeping a close eye on our 18 year old who has been in impressive form so far this season for our Reserve team, and according to reports a loan deal could be in line for Sama as Preston look to strengthen a defence that has conceded 10 goals in the last 3 League games!

Sama joined LFC from Borussia Dortmund in 2009. He is of Cameroon descent but holds a German passport. He has recently grown in stature since adapting to the English game and surroundings.


PennantEngland U16’s 4 – 0 Wales U16’s – (Sky Sports Victory Shield)

Last night saw our new generation of talent compete live on Sky Sports in the Victory Shield when England U16’s produced a convincing 4-0 win over Wales U’16 with Liverpool’s Jerome Sinclair grabbing the first half headlines with a goal and assist for the Young Lions….

Three Liverpool Academy U16 youngsters (Niall Heaton, Jordan Rossiter and Jerome Sinclair) were in the squad for England, while Liverpool’s Harry Wilson also featured as a late substitute for Wales U16’s.

England opened the scoring after just 3 minutes when Loftus-Cheek controlled a great ball into the box from Liverpool’s Jerome Sinclair before gliding the ball past goalkeeper Gareth Owen. A few minutes later, Jerome Sinclair scored himself when he was on hand to scramble the ball home from a yard out following a great save from the Welsh keeper. Further goals from Alex Kiwomya and Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek secured the win for the Young Lions.

Liverpool’s Jerome Sinclair played the first 54 minutes, Jordan Rossiter was a second half substitute while Niall Heaton was an unused substitute for England in what was a truly memorable night for the Young Lions..

Carling Cup In Thursday’s Melwood Today article we asked our readers to vote for who they would prefer Liverpool to be drawn against in the Carling Cup Quarter Final… After 24 hours of voting and 1741 votes, the results are in…

37 % of fans would prefer to see us drawn against Championship side Crystal Palace who currently lye 4th in the Championship table. Just behind in the votes is Championship side Cardiff City who got 23 % of readers votes. Interestingly, 18% of fans would like to see us up against Manchester United in the Quarter Final draw…

Remember, the draw for the Carling Cup Quarter Finals will be made at noon on Saturday…
