Liverpool 2-1 Stoke City
Sunday, 18th March 2012

Liverpool are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup after a 2-1 victory over Stoke City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon thanks to goals from Luis Suarez and Stewart Downing.

The draw will be made at 6.05pm at Wembley Stadium, where the semi-finals will take place on the weekend of the 14/15th April 2012.

Luis Suarez gave the Reds the lead with a fine low shot from just outside the area, after combining well with Maxi Rodriguez.

But Liverpool’s lead was shortlived when former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch headed home a corner to equalise for the Potters just at around the half-hour mark.

Stoke played a strong performance and matched the Reds for long periods of the game, but the home side’s second breakthrough came fifteen minutes into the second half when Stewart Downing blasted a loose ball home from the edge of the area. It was only the left-winger’s second goal for the club.

Liverpool go into this evening’s semi-final draw along with Chelsea, who beat Leicester City earlier in the day, as well as Sunderland or Everton and Tottenham or Bolton.
