LFC meet Martinez and expected to meet more

Roberto Martinez has flown to Miami to meet Liverpool’s owners to discuss the vacant manager’s position at Anfield, Wigan chariman Dave Whelan revealed on Wednesday.

Martinez is therefore the favourite to take over from Kenny Dalglish, but it is also understood that FSG will speak to at least two more candidates for the job.

Whelan told the BBC on Wednesday “He [Martinez] is honest and up front and I expect to hear from him in the next 48 hours.”

Despite ruling himself out last week, Swansea’s Brendan Rodgers remains a possibility. Interest in former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is reported to have cooled.

The following image was circulated on twitter today, along with another, showing a casual looking Martinez and John Henry in Miami.
