Spanish winger Jeffrén was yesterday linked with a January move to Liverpool from Sporting Lisbon and today his agent has confirmed Liverpool’s interest.
Jeffrén, 24, is a Barcelona academy graduate who joined Sporting in 2011 but has failed to settle in Portugal, making only one League start this season.
Reports suggest Liverpool are interested in a loan in January with a view to a permanent deal.
“Yes, Liverpool and other Premier League clubs have been watching the player, they are very aware of Jeffren”, agent Jorge Llagostera told Portuguese radio station Antena 1.
Barcelona are believed to have an option to buy back the player but have chosen not to do so.
Jeffrén is another versatile player who is capable of playing across the front three attacking positions and clearly fits the profile of player Liverpool are seeking to sign; young, relatively cheap fee and possibly high sell on value if he develops.
