The agent of Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez has insisted the Chilean international will not be leaving the Nou Camp.
Sanchez, 23, has struggled to cement a place in the Barca first-team since a £30m move from Udinese 18 months ago and Catalan press earlier this week reported that Liverpool scouts have been monitoring the player with a view to a move in January.
The Mirror reported Liverpool’s interest in a loan move for Sanchez in January.
But Sanchez’s representative Fernando Felicevich says the player will remain at the Spanish giants.
“He [Sanchez] has no reason to leave as he is in the best team in the world. Barcelona will not sell Alexis in any case. He has returned after injury and played well.”
“Alexis will stay in Barcelona,” he told todomercadoweb.es.
Liverpool are monitoring a number of players ahead of the January transfer window as they look to right the wrongs of the summer window. Last month manager Brendan Rodgers admitted they would explore the possibility of loan signings to strengthen the squad.
“There will be a bit of money to spend and hopefully we can get one or two loans in, if that’s possible, to reinforce the group” explained Rodgers.
