Suarez burnout worries being looked at

Liverpool may withdraw Luis Suarez from their plans for their pre-season tour of Australia and Thailand this summer, amid concerns the forward could face exhaustion from his extensive football calendar.

Suarez looks set to be part of the Uruguay squad for this summer’s Confederations Cup tournament, prolonging an already long and enduring domestic season.

The tournament runs between 15 June and 30 June in Brazil, less than a month after the end of the Premier League season, in which Suarez has played almost every game.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers admitted the club are looking into options to give Suarez a rest during the pre-season travel plans.

He said in The Guardian,”We are finalising all their dates and when they’re away. They will need blocks of rest. If Luis is playing in that tournament, he may not be back at the start of pre-season for us because he needs to have a recovery period. There will be an individual pattern for every player. The idea is to get everyone back in the summer as soon as possible to have a real push next year.”
