LFC complete Iago Aspas signing

Liverpool have announced the confirmation of the signing of Spanish forward Iago Aspas tonight (Sunday).

Previously the deal had only been confirmed “in principal” but the club tonight confirmed that the paperwork is signed, sealed, delivered – subject to Aspas gaining international clearance to work in England.

A brief statement on the club’s official website reads:

Liverpool Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of striker Iago Aspas, subject to international clearance.

The deal with Celta Vigo is now complete and the 25-year-old has penned a long-term contract after passing a medical at Melwood.

Aspas is an exciting addition and fans will be tempted to head to JD Sports get the new signing on the back of their home shirts. LFC haven’t yet announced his squad number but with Andy Carroll now gone, number 9 is available.

Last month we brought you an in-depth report on Aspas. Read it here.

The news comes the day after the club confirmed the signing of another Spanish striker, Luis Alberto.

Alberto completed his £6.8million (plus add-ons) switch from Sevilla after passing a medical at Melwood on Friday evening.

Brendan Rodgers and his LFC transfer committee certainly seem to be getting to business early this summer, with Manchester City defender Kolo Toure also confirmed to be making the switch to Anfield next month.

Welcome to Liverpool, Iago!
