Victor Valdes’ agent: Liverpool have not offered a four-day trial

Victor Valdes’ agent, Gines Carvajal, has denied reports that his client has turned down a four-day trial at Liverpool – saying no such offer has been made.

Carvajal told Spanish newspaper Sport:

“This proposal was never made to us by Brendan Rodgers or Liverpool at any moment. Liverpool has not offered training [for] four days and we have refused, because it [the report] is false.”

He was speaking after a report in the Sunday People claimed Valdes had turned down Rodgers’ request to undergo a four day trial at Melwood in order to prove his fitness after being sidelined with an ACL injury since March.

Talks between Liverpool and Valdes’ representatives were reported to have begun late last week, with a view to the former Barcelona goalkeeper joining the club on a free transfer.
