The Australian makes his first Premier League start of the season by replacing the Belgian, who’s future at Liverpool will surely now be questioned after a run of poor form.

Kolo Toure returns to the squad after missing Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Basel, but Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren continue their central defensive partnership.

Mario Balotelli is back from injury, but also only makes the bench with Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana supporting Raheem Sterling up front.

Liverpool: Jones, Skrtel, Lovren, Johnson, Moreno, Henderson, Allen, Gerrard, Coutinho, Lallana, Sterling.

Substitutes: Mignolet, Toure, Lambert, Lucas, Can, Balotelli, Markovic.

Man United: De Gea, Valencia, Jones, Evans, Young, Carrick, Fellaini, Mata, Rooney, van Persie, Wilson.

Substitutes: Lindegaard, McNair, Blackett, Herrera, Fletcher, Januzaj, Falcao.

Man United v Liverpool gets underway at 1.30pm (UK) and is live on Sky Sports 1. Keep up to date with the game by following @thisisanfield on Twitter.
