Confirmed Liverpool lineup vs Leicester: Gerrard, Toure in — no Balotelli in squad

Steven Gerrard and Kolo Toure replace Javier Manquillo and Martin Skrtel in Liverpool’s starting lineup to face Leicester City on Thursday afternoon, whilst there’s no place for Mario Balotelli in the matchday squad.

Gerrard and Toure’s inclusions are the only changes to the lineup from Monday’s victory over Swansea City at Anfield as the Reds look to start 2015 in style.

Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana continue to support Raheem Sterling up front, whilst attacking ammunition lies on the bench in Rickie Lambert, Fabio Borini, Lazar Markovic and Sheyi Ojo.

Danny Ward is the substitute goalkeeper again with Brad Jones injured.

Liverpool: Mignolet, Can, Toure, Sakho, Moreno, Gerrard, Lucas, Henderson, Coutinho, Lallana, Sterling.

Substitutes: Ward, Lovren, Lambert, Manquillo, Borini, Markovic, Ojo.

Leicester have made four changes from a first win in 14 matches against Hull City with Ritchie de Laet, Danny Drinkwater, Dean Hammond and James Vardy coming in.

Leicester City: De Laet, Drinkwater, Morgan, Hammond, James, Vardy, Schlupp, Simpson, Mahrez, Wasilewski.

Substitutes: Smith, Lawrence, Moore, Cambiasso, Ulloa, Knockaert, Nugent.
