Rumour Mill: Liverpool want Arsenal’s out of contract forward

Reports on Tuesday claim Liverpool are interested in making a surprise bid to bring Arsenal teenager Chuba Akpom to Anfield.

Reports from the Daily Star and Eurosport claim the 19-year-old is stalling on a new deal at the Emirates and the Reds are ready to take him on a free transfer in the summer.

Liverpool are not the only club reportedly interested in signing the talented attacker, with Manchester City, Everton and Tottenham also keen on acquiring his signature, along with foreign clubs including Borussia Dortmund, Feyenoord and FC Twente.

Akpom came on as a second-half substitute in Arsenal‘s 3-2 FA Cup win over Brighton on Sunday, and displayed some of the pace and trickery that has seen him tipped to become a future star.

He currently represents England at Under-20 level, and he has scored three goals in five appearances. Prior to that he also starred for the Under-16s, 17s and 19s.

Akpom’s current contract expires this summer, and with his opportunities limited at the Emirates, he could leave seeking more regular first-team opportunities.

The teenager is a product of Arsenal‘s academy, making his debut for the club in September 2013. He recently spent time on loan at Brentford and Coventry City.
