According to the Mirror, who cite Italian media, LFC scout Paul Goldrick was sent to watch Anderson in action for Lazio on Monday, as the Serie A club romped to a 4-0 win over Fiorentina.

The 21-year-old is a very highly-rated attacking midfielder, combining pace, dribbling and creativity to great effect, and has been an integral part of his side’s surge towards the Champions League places in 2014/15.

In his 23 appearances so far this season he has scored seven times, and has also produced eight assists for teammates.

Manchester City and Chelsea are both also reportedly interested in bringing the £20 million-rated star to England, and with his contract set to expire in 2018, the Rome giants could be happy to sell if a big offer comes their way.

Anderson moved to Lazio from Brazilian side Santos in 2013, for around £5.5m, and has appeared twice for Brazil’s Under-21 side.
