Rafa Benitez again linked with move for Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo

Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo was linked with a loan move to Newcastle United last season and is again linked with a move to Rafa Benitez’s side this summer.

The 19-year-old suffered a spate of injuries last season, and one in pre-season curtailed potential plans to loan out the teenager.

Benitez was said to be in the market for a winger and Ojo heading to the Magpies would have given him valuable experience, especially in the Championship.

Now, with Newcastle returning to the Premier League at the first attempt, Benitez is again linked with a move for Ojo.

The Newcastle Chronicle newspaper claim Ojo is one of the targets as the Spaniard seeks to improve his wide options this summer.

It’s not stated whether this would be a permanent move or a loan deal, but either could be possible for Liverpool.

Last season saw Ojo’s application seemingly questioned by Jurgen Klopp, with the youngster struggling to make an impression on the first-team.

Ojo is currently away with England at the Under-20s World Cup in South Korea. The Three Lions have progressed to the knockout stage, with Ojo starting one and coming as a sub in their other two group games.

Ovie Ejaria is also in the England squad, and has also started once. They play Costa Rica in the Round of 16 on Wednesday.
