Liverpool beat Leicester City to win the Premier League Asia Trophy on Saturday, with the Reds winning 2-1 in a hugely entertaining contest.
Following Wednesday’s 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace, Jurgen Klopp‘s side took on the 2015/16 Premier League champions at the Hong Kong Stadium.
There were Reds supporters everywhere you looked, as the club’s worldwide appeal once again became apparent.
Klopp named an attack-minded starting lineup, with Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino all involved.
A ferocious opening to the game saw Liverpool flying forward and playing with great creativity and confidence, and Leicester struggled to cope with the relentless nature of their football.
Despite their early dominance, however, the Reds founds themselves behind, thanks to Islam Slimani’s back-post header.
Fortunately, the Foxes’ lead didn’t last long, and Salah levelled the scores with an inch-perfect header of his own, following a delightful one-two with Coutinho.
Celebrations with team-mates followed……
Trent Alexander-Arnold started in Nathaniel Clyne‘s absence, and the young right-back was once again a confident presence up and down the flank.
Coutinho was the best player on the pitch, and his trademark stunner found the top corner to give Liverpool the lead shortly before half-time.
The second half was a more low-key affair, but the Merseysiders saw the game out in relatively easy fashion. Klopp saluted the fans after the final whistle.
All that was left to do was for Jordan Henderson to lift the trophy in front of the adoring supporters, as Liverpool’s productive summer continues.
Attention now turns to next Saturday’s friendly against Hertha Berlin in the German capital, as the Reds look to be in perfect shape come the start of the 2017/18 season.
