Following their return to Melwood for pre-season training on Wednesday, the Liverpool squad took to social media to say “it’s good to be back.”
Twenty players were involved in outdoor work as Jurgen Klopp oversaw the start of summer preparations, with a handful of others continuing rehabilitation.
The likes of Nathaniel Clyne, Joel Matip, Jordan Henderson, Daniel Sturridge, Roberto Firmino, Dominic Solanke, Sheyi Ojo, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Lazar Markovic were among those involved.
With a week to go until the Reds’ first friendly of pre-season, away to Tranmere Rovers on July 12, the work has begun in earnest.
And while many spent their summer on holiday in exotic locations, Klopp’s squad shared their excitement at returning to Merseyside at the end of Wednesday’s session.
