Liverpool players in classy gesture for supporter Sean Cox in Dublin

Liverpool players paid an emotional and classy tribute to Sean Cox following the friendly victory over Napoli in Dublin.

Irishman Cox was left in critical condition following an unprovoked attack prior to Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Roma.

A flag supporting Cox was made in the immediate aftermath, with the prominent words “Sean Cox – You’ll Never Walk Alone” etched for all to see.

The banner featured prominently as the Reds made their way to the final in Kiev and was once again on display at the Aviva Stadium as Liverpool players gathered in the centre circle after the match to pay an emotional tribute.

Supporters from all corners of the stadium stood in applause as Liverpool players paraded the banner with pride as everyone in attendance stood in unity with Cox and his loved ones.

News of Jurgen Klopp taking time to visit Cox’s family in Dublin following Liverpool’s arrival in the Irish capital, merely hours prior to the match against Napoli, also made the rounds on social media.

It comes as yet another act of class by Liverpool, who have ensured Cox remains an integral part of the team ahead of the new season.

This Is Anfield’s thoughts remain with Sean and his family and friends as he continues his road to recovery.
