Liverpool midfielder Allan makes second loan switch of the season

Liverpool’s 21-year-old midfielder Allan Rodrigues de Souza has completed a loan move back to his homeland for the remainder of the current season.

A scheming central midfield playmaker, Allan’s arrival at Liverpool was heralded by Jurgen Klopp back in late 2015.

Without a work permit, however, he has been restricted to a series of loan moves, the latest of which was a stint in the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt.

That move has now been ended, though, with Allan instead heading to Brazilian side Fluminense for what will be his sixth temporary switch since signing for the Reds.

Allan started off the season in favour at Eintracht, playing in four of the first nine league games in 2018/19, including a full 90-minute outing in a 4-1 win over Hannover.

A knee injury sustained shortly after his arrival curtailed his involvement, with the LCL tear meaning he didn’t appear in a matchday squad from early November for the remainder of the first half of the season.

After the winter break in Germany his fortunes haven’t changed, meaning he now heads back to his home nation in an attempt to regain form and fitness.

Fluminense finished 12th in the Brazilian Serie A which has just ended but they are still involved in the Sudamericana, the second continental tournament in South America akin to UEFA’s Europa League.
