Goals: Milner 41′, Hoever 69′
The Reds took on their League One opponents at Stadium MK, with Jurgen Klopp making 11 changes to the side that beat Chelsea 2-1 on Sunday.
Liverpool dominated the first half and James Milner‘s goal was the difference at the break, following a terrible mistake by goalkeeper Stuart Moore.
Ki-Jana Hoever doubled his side’s lead with a powerful header on his first-ever senior start, sealing the victory in Milton Keynes.
Here’s how supporters reacted to the result on Facebook, Twitter and This Is Anfield’s forums.
Elliott’s vibrant debut was the talk of social media…

“Elliott is special.”
– Darren McClean on Facebook.
Elliott has real quality. To be that confident on the ball at 16, speaks volumes. His awareness, vision and technical ability is really impressive. Serious future ahead of him.

Harvey Elliott. Very good player.

“We have a star in the making in young Harvey Elliott.”
– Neukolln on the forums.
Mad how Harvey Elliott is better than Kenny.

Naby Keita earned some important game time…
Money in the bank for Keita, that.

Disappointed with Oxlade-Chamberlain and Keita so far tonight, but minutes under their belt the most important thing.

Dejan Lovren didn’t exactly impress in defence…
How's Lovren been our worst player in a team of Sixth Formers ?????
— R8 ?? (@Nabyllionaire) September 25, 2019
Lovren is alarmingly bad. How can he be our worst player out of a team of 12 year olds ???

There's a reason they're targeting our left and it's Dejan Lovren.

But Curtis Jones and the other youngsters were also praised, on a positive night for Liverpool…
Harvey Elliot having a really promising match once again, Jones has gone up a few levels too.
Hoever and Brewster will be a bit disappointed with their performance, albeit a great goal by Ki-Jana.
Kelleher with a solid debut. Good night out for the youngsters

Jones, Elliot, Milner & Kelleher our best players on the night imo. Plenty of positives through the team. Especially liked the fluid short pass & move football we played throughout. Well done.

Great Game for all the young players involved tonight for @LFC congrats to Curtis, who’s made a great start to the season in the u23 & u19 fully deserving of MOM tonight ??
— Dominic Matteo (@Dominicmatteo21) September 25, 2019
“Young players can be proud of themselves tonight and the two best young ones we have are on loan at Hertha and Bournemouth. Bright future ahead.”
– John Gardner on Facebook.
“Really impressed with the young’uns today. The kids are doing alright under Jurgen!”
– Maria on the forums.
Great game tonight especially from all the young lads. Some excellent performances from the likes of Elliot, Hoever and Brewster but M.O.M for me was Curtis Jones #LFC ?

Great performances from Elliott, @curtisjr_10, and Kelleher. Positive signs from Brewster. Gomez and Milner class as you'd expect. #MKDLIV

Kelleher good shot stopper, flustered on crosses, Hoever did well, Brewster quiet but potential was clear, Joned and Elliot excellent. Ox and Keita understandably rusty. All in all, good nights work.
