Rafa hints at Voronin return

Andriy Voronin could be set for a surprise return to Liverpool after Reds boss Rafa Benitez revealed communication between him and Voronin’s agent is good.

The Ukranian international striker is currently on a season-long loan at German side Hertha Berlin and still under contract on Merseyside. It is believed Liverpool still pay a large part of his wages.

After the sale of Robbie Keane to Tottenham last week, the Reds are left with only Fernando Torres and David Ngog as strikers in the squad.

As previously reported on This Is Anfield, Voronin himself has made a ‘come and get me’ plea to Benitez.

Speaking to the club’s official television channel, Benitez said, ‘œI was talking with his agent and the relationship is good. He is playing very well, they say that he is a hero there so we will analyse the situation but later on.’

Voronin departed Anfield when Keane came in. He scored 5 goals in 19 games for the club – an identical record to that of Keane.
