We would like to take the opportunity to remind supporters of the ongoing boycott of The Sun newspaper.
The lies reported by that rag four days after the disaster with the city and the country still in mourning caused great pain and anger for the families and victims. That pain lives on today.
Contrary to what some believe, there has never been a proper apology, and the apology they did finally provide wasn’t until 15 years after the disaster, in 2004 following a story involving Wayne Rooney.
The then editor, Kelvin MacKenzie, refuses to apologise for the story – even as recently as January 2007 on BBC’s Question Time programme. His lies continue to smear the real truth of that day.
The Liverpool Supporters Union ‘Spirit of Shankly’ distributed flyers explaining the boycott at the match against Blackburn at Anfield on Saturday and the flyer can be downloaded as a pdf, here. We urge you to print this out and educate others why any self-respecting human should never buy the newspaper.
