‘œPriceless’ Mascherano going nowhere

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez says Argentine international midfielder Javier Mascherano is staying at Anfield, and isn’t available at any price.

Mascherano’s agent added fuel to fire yesterday when he suggested that his client would find it hard to resist a move to Barcelona, with the Catalan club said to be interested in signing the 25-year-old.

But Benitez dismissed the rumours, claiming Mascherano is happy to see his future at Anfield.

“Mascherano has no price,” said Benitez.

“Barcelona could not afford to match his value to Liverpool Football Club. We do not want to sell and Javier is very happy here.

“I have spoken to Javier two or three times this summer ‘“ the last time was only last week ‘“ and he was very happy, very positive. So I was surprised to see the agent’s comments.

“He has a long contract and any club can forget about bidding for him. They can offer £40m or even £50m, we don’t want to sell.”
