While the Reds’ first-team suffered a 2-0 defeat in Florence last night, back on home soil the Liverpool Reserves beat Man City by the same scoreline.
David Ngog was again on target, while youngster Steven Irwin scored the second on his 20th birthday.
Daniel Agger returned to action, putting in an impressive display at the back and earning praise from new reserves boss John McMahon. “It was a good win for us and Daniel did really well and it was great to see him back,” McMahon told Liverpoolfc.tv.
“He was committed, he made some good challenges and he helped the young lads around him. He enjoyed himself and was pleased to be back.
“David scored again which is another plus for us and Stevie’s finish was excellent.”
