Johnson: Time to prove everyone wrong

Liverpool defender Glen Johnson says the team have the belief and strength to pull through the club’s current bad run of form.

The Reds have won just once in their last nine games and sit eigth place in the Premier League, a full eleven points behind league leaders Chelsea and three points off fourth placed Tottenham.

And Johnson, who has pulled out of England’s squad to face Brazil in a friendly in Qatar on Saturday, says enough is enough.

“Our form has been disappointing, but it’s important to stay calm, stick together and focus on getting it right,” he said.

“We’ve got a fantastic group of players here. Everyone has been disappointed with the performances and the results because we’ve got enough about us to do a lot better.

“As players, it’s our job to put it right on the pitch because when we cross the white line we’re the ones that win or lose a game.

“There has always been a belief that we are equipped to beat any team we face, but a lot has gone against us, especially luck, and it has cost us games.

“But you can’t blame luck all the time. We have to prove everyone wrong – just like we did against United.”
