Confirmed Liverpool lineup vs. Chelsea – Van Dijk starts for Reds

Liverpool are at Stamford Bridge, looking to make it seven wins from seven opening Premier League games – and there’s good news as the teamsheets arrive.

Jurgen Klopp had told reporters at his pre-match press conference that Virgil van Dijk was still a doubt due to a small rib injury, but the Dutchman returns to the lineup in the Reds’ defence.

Both Klopp and Maurizio Sarri made eight changes to their lineups for the League Cup at Anfield in midweek, and as expected they bring their star names back for today’s league encounter.

Alisson returns in goal, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson at full back, with Joe Gomez partnering Van Dijk at the centre of defence.

In midfield, Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Gini Wijnaldum lineup together.

Up front, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino return, with Sadio Mane one of the three players who keep their place from midweek.

It means that there are just two changes from the lineup against Southampton in the last league game, with Gomez and Milner replacing Joel Matip and Xherdan Shaqiri.

For Chelsea, Sarri keeps with the side that started their last league game – a 0-0 draw at West Ham, meaning Eden Hazard starts in attack alongside Oliver Giroud.
