Gerrard: We face big challenge for fourth

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has urged his teammates to forget about the disappointing results of December and January which now see the Reds 19 points adrift of Premier League leaders Arsenal and concentrate on the push to finish in the fourth Champions League spot.

The Reds face a battle with the likes of Aston Villa and Everton for fourth spot with 13 games of the season to go.

Liverpool also have commitments in the FA Cup and Champions League as the season continues.

Gerrard says, “We’re facing a big challenge to finish in the top four and we’ve got to forget about the title and focus on fighting for fourth place.

“There are a lot of teams around us who are in good form and playing well. It’s important that we don’t let our standards drop.”
