Liverpool reportedly eyeing exciting “new Sergio Aguero” Argentine striker

Liverpool are among the clubs interested in signing highly rated Argentina Under-20 international striker Luciano Vietto, according to the player’s agent.

Vietto is currently at Racing Club in his homeland, having scored 15 goals in his first 48 appearances.

He has won much praise in Argentina, and has won four caps for Argentina Under-20s, scoring twice.

Metro’s Jamie Sanderson says the 20-year-old has been compared to Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.

“We know that many top clubs are following Vietto,” agent Jorge Cysterpiller is quoted as saying by Metro.

“There is a lot of competition to sign him. Liverpool we know like him and so do Real Madrid – I think also two German teams.

“I think he could move at the end of the European season.”

With Liverpool unsure of the futures of both Iago Aspas and Fabio Borini, Brendan Rodgers may well be hoping to add a talented young striker to his squad this summer.

Elsewhere on Friday, David Woods of the Daily Star claimed Liverpool are “weighing up a summer swoop” for UAE international winger Omar Abdulrahman.

January’s transfer window saw no new arrivals at Anfield, but Rodgers reaffirmed that he is happy with the personnel he has got to continue Liverpool’s ambitions of finishing in the top four this season.

“Every manager will always want more but we can’t affect that any more,” Rodgers said at his press conference on Thursday.

“We have now 14 League games remaining and we have the players here who have taken us this far. We’re up there at the moment and I can only be optimistic about what we can achieve with the players we have.”

If we qualify for the Champions League we should sell Aspas, keep Borini and buy an experienced striker.

And a fantastic midfielder… The German league is full of em. Can anyone remember the German b team that beat us at Wembley last summer…

      • Redblooded Male

Yeah I remember, Mertesacker scored, hopefully not tomorrow. I like Bundesliga players Firmino, Inui, Kiyotaki.

We were linked to Luciano Vietto a couple of years ago. He’s gone on to enhance his reputation in South America since then.Surely the time to make a move for him was in this winter window. There will be extra competition for his signature in the summer.
It’s interesting his agent mentioned us before Real Madrid. The wheels must be set in motion for a move.Spurs and Chelsea are probably waiting for us to do the donkey work, so they can step in with their customary last minute hijacking.

His agent only mentioned LFC because he knew that other teams pay attention to who we are interested in then actually get them while we dither around while Ian Ayre tries to remember where he left the club checkbook.

Now he is guaranteed to go to a big money team and then tell everyone how impotent we are in the transfer market.

      Enough of these “reports”!

Yet another wild claim without any substance

Really tired now of hearing about what we could have won. It’s like the boring fat ugly virgins at the bar, checking out the girls, saying what they would do with them, then having to watch when someone with balls goes over, talks to them and leaves with them. Manage to actually sign someone and I will become interested in these stories again.

not doubting this guys ability, but getting tired of hearing about us being linked to attacking players rather than midfielders or defenders, the areas we really need to improve to compete. Lets say we do qualify for the champions league next season, our attacking options will be Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, Ibe and Suso, Borini and Aspas will be returning from loan, hopefully better players. Surely any cash we have would be better spent on other areas of the field?

  • Juraj

Even if we were linked with the player we will never get them. Keep scouting for another clubs and fool us with your videos!

If/when we make 4th, we should plunder top forwards whose teams fail to make the CL, like El Sharaawy, Griezmann, with Michu as a Aspas/Borini replacement. Would be great to get revenge on Swansea for shafting us with Allen.

Kid is more like a Batistuta than Aguero deadly with both feet, good in the air, good dribbler and easy on the eye type of player… Madrid already have Morata and Jese and don’t know what to do with them. If he comes here then he will definitely get his chance because he looks like he has more potential than Borini and with Yesil out indefinitely again and Ngoo not looking world class material this guy definitely has the look but he will cost us some money even though he is young he is already highly rated in South America.

    Forget vietto! I want Omar!
