Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler will return to his familiar number 9 shirt for the 2006/07 season, after the official squad numbers for the new campaign were announced today.
Fowler has not worn the number 9 shirt for the Reds since his departure back in 2001. But his move back to Anfield in January this year followed by the exit of French striker Djibril Cisse to Marseille this summer, means that Fowler will be reunited with the number he is remembered by at the club.
Chilean winger Mark Gonzalez has taken over the vacant number 11 shirt. Left-back Fabio Aurelio will wear the number 12. Welsh striker Craig Bellamy will wear the number 17. And Gabriel Paletta will wear number 29. Goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek retains the number one jersey.
