Loan Watch: Carson in good form

Goalkeeper Scott Carson made his eleventh appearance of the season for Charlton in their 1-0 win over Man City on Saturday, keeping his fourth clean sheet and again impressing with some reflex saves.

Carson is proving himself as a great shot stopper and a more than capable goalkeeper for the Addicks. The question for Liverpool fans and no doubt Rafa Benitez is whether he will develop into more than just a shot stopper and be able to keep his concentration for a full 90 minutes whilst making the odd important save here and there, as is required at a club like Liverpool.

At just 21 years old Carson is very young for a keeper and with time we will see if he can become a future asset for the club, either way his excellent form for Charlton can only be a good thing as he gains experience and in doing so raise his market value if Benitez did choose to sell.

With Chris Kirkland now having signed for Wigan, Jerzy Dudek remains back up to Pepe Reina, with youngster David Martin also providing cover during Dudek’s recent suspension.
