RTK, LFC Songs

While the RTK (Reclaim The Kop) campaign is a great idea and great initiative, does it focus too heavily on historical songs and aspects of the club? While it’s great to educate newer fans on the old songs and histories, in truth those songs are rarely heard actually in the ground (although some often in the pubs around it).

If we wanted to encourage fans to sing inside the ground and thus improve the atmosphere, then surely newer songs which are more frequently sang at Anfield should be learnt.

Arguably the most popular songs thesedays are Fields of Anfield Road, Poor Scouser Tommy and Rafa-Rafael. But there’s plenty of individual player songs and these should be told so those who don’t know them can join in with the tradition of singing each players’ song before kick off.
