The club will present plans for the 60,000 seater stadium on Stanley Park to Liverpool City Council on November 5th. The stadium is expected to have the capacity to be extended to accommodate 75,000 fans if necessary.

But Hicks reassured fans that the club’s exciting future with the stadium is still going ahead, despite the costs.

He said, “I’m so excited about the new stadium because we’ll be able to go do things for the fans we’ve never been able to do for them.

“Our fans are wonderful and over time we’ll be able to give them the amenities, comfort and ease of getting tickets they have never had before.”
