Agger and Skrtel travel to Middlesbrough

Liverpool have been boosted by the inclusion of Daniel Agger in the first team’s squad to face Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Danish central defender has not featured for the Reds since injuring a metatarsal against Portsmouth in mid-September.

Agger was meant to make his return to action in the Reserves’ fixture at Blackburn Rovers on Thursday night, but the game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Also included in the squad to travel to Teeside is new signing, Slovakian international defender Martin Skrtel. However the 6ft 4ins £6.5million transfer is unlikely to figure with his deal only completed today.

Back in squad come Steven Gerrard, Jose Reina, Fernando Torres and Alvaro Arbeloa who all missed the FA Cup third round tie at Luton Town last Sunday.

Liverpool (from): Reina, Arbeloa, Finnan, Carragher, Agger, Hyypia, Riise, Pennant, Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano, Babel, Lucas, Voronin, Kuyt, Torres, Crouch, Benayoun, Kewell, Skrtel, Itandje.
