Wednesday’s News Round-up

It’s been a slow day for Liverpool FC news following last night’s fantastic victory in the San Siro. With all eyes on Friday’s Champions League quarter-final draw and Saturday’s home Premier League clash against relegation threatened Reading, here’s what’s been hitting the headlines today’¦

Reserves game off
Tonight’s Liverpool Reserves game at home to Manchester City Reserves has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Halliwell Jones Stadium pitch in Warrington has been effected by the bad weather in the North West today, forcing the game to be called off. No date for the rearranged fixture has been announced yet.

Rafa fancies all-English final
Rafael Benitez says he would be ‘œmore than happy’ to see two English teams in the final of the Champions League this season.

All four Premier League teams, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal, remain in the competition ahead of Friday’s draw for the quarter-finals and Benitez says that it just proves the quality of the English league.

He says, “I do not have any preference now who we play next, but I would be more than happy to face an English side in the final. I will just wait for the draw and enjoy today,” he said.

“The fact that four teams are through shows that the Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world and the top four are clearly four of the best teams in Europe.”
