Our pre-season friendly with Glasgow Rangers at Ibrox has now been confirmed officially by Liverpool FC. The date is indeed July 26th, just as we told you a last week.
The friendly against the Uefa Cup finalists takes place 4 days before a trip to Spain to play Villareal. Those two are the only confirmed matches as yet, but it looks likely the Reds will play FC Basle and one other side while on their pre-season training camp in Switzerland in early July.
Rafa Benitez’s side are also expected to face Crewe Alexandra again and have been offered a friendly by Merseyside neighbours Tranmere. They will not be taking part in the Port of Rotterdam or Amsterdam Tournament.
Most fans would like to see a return of one pre-season friendly at Anfield too but there has been no such fixture since 2003, only Champions League qualifiers to enjoy in the summer evening sunshine.
